Connaught Bar

Coburg Bar at The Connaught Hotel

The Connaught Hotel has been a renowned London hotel for over a hundred years, but it recently underwent a $140 million dollar restoration to renew its charming and luxurious Old World elegance including burnished mahogany paneling and gilded scrollwork.   In May 2008, the trendy Coburg Bar at the Connaught was named the best place to drink in London by Time Out!  Read the Story here at the Morning Advertiser.  Its superb Mayfair Village location makes the Connaught Hotel a great choice.

Well if you stay at Kinnaird House and Estate in Perthshire, Scotland the outdoor butler will be more than

Kinnaird Hotel

Kinnaird Hotel

happy to keep ’em coming! What better way to relax during your sporting day? I’m not much of a fisher/hunter, but Kinnaird House makes me want to try it on for size.

According to their site…..This Relais and Châteaux hotel is set within a private 7,000 acre sporting estate with 5 miles of private beat in the beautiful landscape of Perthshire, Scotland. The River Tay is famous for salmon & sea trout fishing, and our romantic Millpond at the top of Creag Martach is ideal for brown trout.

They offer the outdoors for all ages from scenic walking trails to clay pigeon shooting. Not only is the setting breath taking the accommodations are impressive as well. You can stay in either the main house, an 18th century mansion or in one of their four self catering cottages ranging from two to four bedrooms.

Clearly I’m not the only one who is impressed with their accomodations….check out these reviews of Kinnaird House on TripAdvisior.

Source: Sharrow Bay

Sharrow Bay is known for several things including it’s “sticky toffee pudding.” I also bet you didn’t know the hotel was where the term “country house hotel” was first coined!

But, back to the pudding… Here’s what their website says:

Sharrow Bay has always been famed for its desserts; originally known as ‘icky sticky toffee sponge’ the hotel invented sticky toffee pudding in the 1970’s. If there is a pudding to die for this is it.

One of history’s best kept secrets, Sharrow Bay’s ‘Sticky Toffee Pudding’ was auctioned for Children in Need in 2007 raising a fantastic £32,000. Sharrow’s Michelin star chefs have made the sticky toffee available to enjoy in you own home through the online shop or via national retail outlets such as Harvey Nichols and Lakeland.

To mark the hotel’s 60th anniversary, Sharrow Bay has also launched their new ‘Chocolate & Ginger Pudding’ to celebrate the hotels diamond anniversary. This deliciously decadent pudding is a favourite on the Sharrow menu and like the sticky toffee has been made available to enjoy in your own home through the online shop or via national retail outlets such as Harvey Nichols and Lakeland.

Source: Dalhousie Castle

Visitors to Dalhousie Castle might not get to cross the original drawbridge over a deep dry moat- but they definitely won’t be lacking on the castle experience.  King Edward I stayed at the castle right before defeating Sir William Wallace at the Battle of Falkirk and thus, visitors can stay in one of the themed rooms such as the “William Wallace.” Also, guests can dine in the ancient barrel-vaulted dungeons. You might even find yourself staring at a suit of armour as you eat the traditional Scottish and Classical French cuisine. A prisoner you won’t be, but get out fast after you eat!
